Surgical Incision

May 6, 2008 by freda1951

I don’t want to gross anyone out, just share what happened. You know I got ran over by my truck. I had a traumatic rotator cuff tear of the suprastinatus tendon. I had surgery on April 30 to repair the tendon. I am also going to physical therapy 3 times a week for at least 6 weeks. The therapist says I am doing real good. I believe him even though it feels like torture to me. The attached photo shows my lovely incision.

Beautiful Sunday

May 4, 2008 by freda1951

The sun is shining so pretty today. It’s a little cool but very nice anyway. Nothing much is going on here. My arm hurts too much to go visiting so home it is. That’s all right with me as I love being home. Lynn is taking good care of me. I do feel guilty as I can’t do anything but PT yet and I have always worked. Maybe soon I can.

On the quilting front, I didn’t get my Elenore Burns quilt done before surgery so it is still not finished. Maybe I can get back to it soon. I have all these new quilts running through my head so I guess that is quilting, huh? My story and I’m sticking to it.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I love all of you who visit me.

Great Minds Think Alike

April 26, 2008 by freda1951

I just visited Jan’s blog and just realized, great minds do think alike. If my eyes aren’t deceiving me Jan and I have chosen the same recliner.

Don’t you think we have great minds Jan? Have a great day every one.

Sunday Again

April 20, 2008 by freda1951

It looks like I only post on Sunday and lately I guess I have. I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. Today is housework day here. Don’t you just love housework? Not. Lynn also did a little yard work. Thank goodness we bought that riding mower last summer or I would have had to mow too. Lynn can’t mow with a push mower.

We had 3 of the grandchildren this weekend. Cody, Jacob and Kayla. Yesterday was Art’s and Crafts day at Hardy. There was a band we like playing there so we took the kids and went. Of course they got hungry so I paid $32.00 for 5 people to eat a burger, fries and a drink. Oh well, it’s only money.

Here’s a pic of one of the dogwoods in our yard. This one is right outside my studio window.

Here is a pic of my purple azalea.

On the quilting front, here is pic of my Elenore Burns 9Patch and Stripes that I’m doing BF on.

I’m still having problems with my arm. It feels so heavy today. It is still swollen and I still have muscle spasms but not as bad as before. I see the Orthopedic Surgeon Thursday. I only hope I do not have problems with my arm the rest of my life. It is aggravating at times.

A Quiet Sunday

April 13, 2008 by freda1951

Finally a day that we can slow down. All week last week there was something going on. Monday Lynn had a doctors appointment at Memphis. It was a eye check up and everything was fine. Don’t have to go back for a year. Tuesday and Wednesday I have to have the Nuclear Thyroid Scan. Of course, that was a 120 mile round trip but I went to Marshall Dry Goods on Tuesday and got a little fabric therapy. I bought a couple bolts but looked at a lot. They have some nice fabric.

Thursday and Friday I was supposed to work but school was cancelled due to flooding. That is the second time in 2 weeks that people have been flooded. I’m glad we don’t have to worry about that. We live on a hill. Since I didn’t have to work I got my Scrappy Bargello quilted. Today I got the binding put on it.

We also went to Hardy today and went through some of the antique shops. The only thing I bought was a cedar bird house. Now I have to get it put up. Lynn enjoyed our little trip. It is kind of cool so there wan’t very many people out today. I also got the backing for my 9patch and stripes quilt pinned on. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get the top on. I do have some work in upholstery to do.

I am still having problems with my arm. I only hope that I don’t have problems forever. Still have muscle spasm though not quiet as bad. It hurts at some level all the time but I am learning to cope with it. I still don’t have the results of the MRI. I can’t imagine why they are so slow.

Well I guess that’s all for now. Hope everyone has a great week.

Sunday Catch Up

April 6, 2008 by freda1951

I see it’s been a week since I posted. Not a whole lot going on. I did manage to get my MRI, with the help of a 20mg Prozac and a 2 mg Ativan. I don’t really remember a whole lot of that afternoon and evening. I still haven’t received the results of that. I’m going to  be calling my doctor tomorrow. If there is nothing in the MRI I am going to ask for a referral to a Neurologist or Orthopedist because I have terrible muscle spasms. I have taken 2 rounds of muscle relaxers, 3 times a day for ten days, but I still have them. It may just be soft tissue damage but I would like to know. My arm is still swollen but at least the tire tracks are gone.

I also have another medical problem with my thyroid. I have a nodule on the left lobe of my thyroid and I have to have another type of ultrasound to see if it is cancer. This test will be given over 2 days, Tuesday and Wednesday. I really don’t believe it is cancer because it has been there for at least 4 years. I really don’t notice that big knot in my neck unless I feel it or someone mentions it.

There hasn’t been a lot going on in the quilting part of my life. It seems to have slowed down some, but come to think of it, so have I.

We had 3 of the grandchildren over the weekend. Cody, Jacob and Kayla. They like coming up here, even Cody at 13, so we get them every chance we can because there will come a time they won’t want too. Maybe that day will be lots of years from now. Hope, hope.

I hope all of you are seeing signs of spring. It’s looking pretty around here. Lynn had to mow some grass yesterday, it had gotten so high. I still need to do some yard cleaning but my arm bothers me too much. Maybe before long I can get that done.

Well guess I’ll get off here and get my work done before the race, go, Jr., go!!! Hope all of you have a great Sunday.

Easter Eve

March 22, 2008 by freda1951

I’m still working on getting a MRI. I see my doctor Monday. Would you believe yesterday my glasses broke half in to? So I’m off to Walmart to see if they have some frames that will fit my lenses until I can get to my doctor. He’s not in on Saturdays of course. A few years ago I had a pair to break on a Sunday wouldn’t you know. Walmart came to my rescue that time so maybe they will this time.

I was able to quilt some on my  Scrappy Bargello yesterday. I can’t hold the handle with my left arm but I managed with my right to do some one handed quilting. I couldn’t stand to not quilt any longer. I am doing a freehand rose, leaf, swirl design. It belongs to me so if it isn’t perfect, who cares? Not me.

As with all of you I need another project like I need a hole in my head, buuuuuut, I can’t resist. I found this quilt in the April/May Quilt Magazine and I love it.

I ordered 2 pieces of fabric that is in the quilt in the picture to start my fabric stock pile, aren’t they pretty?

We have been told by the company that sold us our truck that it is going to be a long process before we can get it back. It has to go through steps by Chrysler to determine what happened. That’s all right with me as I don’t want it back if it’s going to run over someone else or me again.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter and I’m sending you these pix as my gift to you for Easter. Please ignore the dead leaves in the background as I haven’t cleaned out the winter crud yet.

HAPPY EASTER

Not Much Happening

March 16, 2008 by freda1951

There really isn’t much for me to talk about this week. I’m still recuperating but things are healing and getting better. I still have muscle spasms in my arm that hurts like the dickens. Also on the back of my arms it’s like a burning tingling feeling. Hurts anyway.  I think it is because the bruise hasn’t completely healed. We still haven’t heard about our truck. Maybe soon.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I will be glad when I can get back to quilting. I don’t like this forced break.

Sunday Musings

March 9, 2008 by freda1951

Just a little update to let you know I am still kicking, even though it isn’t very high. I still can’t bend my right leg but it is getting better. The wound has scabbed over, that it why it is so stiff. I’m still having muscle spasms in my arm. I think I’m going to go to the doctor tomorrow and complain about them. Our truck is still at the dealers. I don’t know what they will say about it. It don’t matter what they say, I know something happened with it. I will be so scared of it if they don’t find anything wrong with it. I doubt that I could afford to get another vehicle since we just bought that one in November.

On the quilting front, I did get some blocks pressed of the oriental themed quilt I started a few weeks ago. I couldn’t trim them as it hurt my arm. At least I got to do something.

Below is a couple pix I took Friday. We got 2 snows last week. That is unusual for us. Tuesday we got 3 inches and Friday we got 8. It’s about all gone now.
