My WIP Wednesday

December 8, 2010

The following quilt has been on my machine WAY too long. I ave made some progress on it.

I have never had a desire to hand sew anything but I have been admiring Bonnie Hunters hexagons and …….yes I had to try some.

Like Bonnie said “they are addicting” I still have a very long way before I could make anything out of them but I am enjoying them.

If I have inserted the pix right you should be able to click on them to make them bigger.

I hope everyone isn’t stressing too much trying to get everything done before the holidays.

Have a great day.

Note To Self Quilt

September 27, 2010

Thanks to Judy L’s generosity I am working on her Note To Self quilt along quiilt. I’m off recuperating from gallbladder surgery and I am actually getting some sewing done. Not as much as I hope cause other things is cutting into my sewing time.

Here is my version:

Hope everyone has a great week. I know I will when I get these darn staples out Wednesday. They stick!

Surgery

September 15, 2010

I went to Batesville for preadmission today. My surgery for gallbladder removal will be at 10:30 Monday. I will have to spend the night then get to come home Tuesday. I’ll be glad to not have this pain anymore.

Another post, woohoo I’m on a roll.

September 8, 2010

I am trying real hard to not ignore my blog. I am also trying to ignore this pain my gallbladder is causing. Hope I can make it till the 20th cause it is coming out!

I love string quilts and have wanted one for a long time. I have started a few with different techniques but it never gets done. I just can’t sew it to paper then strip all that paper off. I admire people that can but it isn’t for me. I have sewed it to the thinnest muslin I can find and then it is too thick, hence the never getting done part. I found a pattern on Hancocks of Paducah website, free to download, that looks like a string quilt but is actually strips sewed together, then sewed into a tube, then cut with a triangle ruler. I love it and it has gone pretty fast. You can click pic to enlarge.

I have all the blocks done and hope to be able to sew some more later today. I probably won’t get to sew tomorrow or Friday as Lynn has Doctor appointments.

Hope everyone is getting to do something they love and hope all of you have a great week.

I am a very bad blogger!

September 2, 2010

I have neglected my blog for many months! Apparently I don’t have much to say, also I stay very busy.

A couple weeks ago I entered a giveaway at Featherstone Quiltworks  and I won! Thanks so much Sue, I love checking your blog.

Here is my awesome prize. I can’t wait to use it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day Holiday and hopefully I won’t be such a bad blogger

A new project and a storage tip

January 25, 2010

Why do I get these ideas running through my head? I had this idea of a burgundy and light blue quilt so you know I had to try it. So far I have used 1 1/2 yards of each color. The pattern is just a nine patch and plain squares of fabric on point. The blue is washed out in the picture

Also here is a storage tip. Some of you may already do this, if so just ignore it. We buy a lot of stuff from Sams and I buy spinach in these clear plastic containers. I have been using them to store projects or cut fabric in. They stack nicely and hold a lot of stuff.

Lynn is doing pretty good. He is still having weakness that just don’t seem to go away. He has never had weakness like this. We see the cardiologist Friday if we can get there. We are supposed to have freezing rain and snow. Hopefully we will be able to go.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Lynn is in the hospital

January 18, 2010

Just wanted to let everyone know that Lynn is in the hospital. He passed out at home yesterday morning, I was working the day shift, he called me at work a few minutes before 8 am and told me had passed out but he was all right but I didn’t think so cause his speech wasn’t right. So I called an ambulance and had him taken to St. Bernards hospital in Jonesboro. He has had a mini stroke but he is doing much better. His speech is back to normal and the left side of his mouth isn’t drawn now. I came home to take a shower, get clean clothes and go back. He is also have some problems with his heart rate going up and down. I don’t mean just a little flucuation. When they are checking his blood pressure his heart rate will go up and down so fast on the machine that sometimes you can’t read the numbers. About six weeks ago his doctors took him off  his Atenolol that he has been on about 4 years because it was making his blood pressure to low and put him on another one. They are working at getting his heart rate stabelized. I came home home for a little while and will going back shortly. I will update whenever I can.

If you get a chance go see Suzannes blog. She is having a giveaway.
