Something is going on with my Blood Pressure.

I have never had high blood pressure but now it is consistently 175/105. It fluctuates of course but hasn’t been lower than 166/101. I’m not on any meds at this time but am having to go everyday for BP checks. My doctor is closed over the weekend but we have an Urgent Care that is seeing me until I can see mine. I also have a swollen Thyroid that I will be having an Ultrasound done on. It is always something, isn’t it. It will be Tuesday before I can see my doctor as Lynn has an appointment with the Neurosurgeon Monday.

 We are going to a chili supper tonight to raise money for the volunteer fire department. We always have a good time. They will have a band there that we really like to listen to.

Half Square Triangle How To

O.K., I’m sure everyone knows how to do HST. Several months ago I saw a quilt on an episode of King of Queens. It was made of all HST blocks. I drafted my own pattern and decided to make the quilt. Since I will need 576 HST blocks I thought I would share how I do them.

My fabrics are Batiks, Fossil Ferns and a couple pieces of Willowberries.

A few blocks done.

First step; Start with 2-4″ blocks. Dark on bottom, light on top.Draw a line across block with Quick Quarter Ruler.

Stitch scant 1/4 inch each side of line.

Cut in to.

Press with dark triangle on top. Open and press seam toward dark Triangle

I use a 3 1/2 inch Omnigrid ruler to square my blocks up

Two finished Half Square Triangle Blocks.

I take 9 of these blocks and sew 3 rows of three, then sew the 3 rows together. I then square the block up to 9 1/2 inches.

Tuesday’s Ramblings

This is a long post as so much has been happening. I have been sick for over a week with a creeping crud that has been going around. Yucky! Our granddaughter was born Feb. 18, Taylor Kristen Lynn Henderson. 7 pounds, 13.3 ounces, 21 inches long. Mother and daughter are doing fine. Oh yeah, so is Daddy.

     

Some of you know that my son’s wife left him and their boys 14 months ago. He met Stephanie who had 3 children. Now they have Taylor, are you keeping count? That is 6 children! They are as happy as can be with them. I would pull my hair out. Maybe that is why Brent keeps his so short?

I got tagged for a meme by Randi. I’m sure this is going to more information that you would ever want to know about me but here goes.

1. I love walking in the rain. Lynn has always thought I was nuts.

2. I love to hunt, all kinds of hunting. I love just being in the woods and listening and watching all the activity in the woods. There is more activity than you would ever think of.

4. I’m terrified of someone looking in my windows. This comes from a peeping tom incident when I was 15.

6. I love spending time with my Dear Hubby, Lynn. We have been married 38 years.

Another Racing Season Starts

I love NASCAR and tonight is the Budweiser Shootout. It’s very short but hey, it’s a race and Daytona is next weekend. Some of you know that a tornado hit Highland, Ar the night of Feb. 5th. It looks like a bomb hit  it. I was not in the tornado nor did I receive any damage. I know people who lost everything and I know people that were like me and had no damage. Everytime I go through Highland and that is every day, I can’t help crying. There is so much destruction I hurt for all those involved. I don’t really know why I get so emotional. Lynn and I lost everything we owned once, not in a tornado but in a fire. Maybe that is why it bothers me so much because we have been in their shoes.
